Comprehensive Ophthalmologist: Overview

Target Audience
This program is specifically designed to cover all aspects of the general ophthalmologist’s practice.


CME Learning Objectives
After completing the comprehensive ophthalmologist program, you should be able to:

  • Discuss instrumentation for the removal of cataracts and current intraocular lens options and indications that may achieve better results for patients
  • Describe the current status of lens replacement surgery using multifocal and accommodating intraocular lens implants and their impact on patient results
  • Evaluate new techniques and develop strategies for the management of cataract surgery complications
  • Discuss current approaches to the management of the most serious complications of cataract surgery including endophthalmitis, dropped lens nucleus and vitreous loss
  • Evaluate treatment and management options for dry and wet age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, retinal vein occlusion, and retinopathy of prematurity disease
  • Describe new treatment techniques and technologies to improve patient satisfaction following refractive surgery
  • Assess new medical and surgical glaucoma treatments and their potential to lower intraocular pressure without side effects for patients
  • Evaluate current concepts for the management of dry eye, ocular infection and inflammation
