Nurse/Allied Health: Overview

Target Audience
This program is specifically designed for ophthalmic nurses and allied health professionals.

Learning Objectives
After completing the nurse/allied health program, you should be able to:

  • Discuss recent developments regarding ocular surface management, anterior segment imaging, and corneal devices
  • Identify patients who may be genetically at risk for glaucoma and understand the eye care professional’s role in therapeutic compliance and glaucoma surgery
  • List several imaging and rehabilitation options for the posterior segment patient, including those patients who have age-related macular degeneration
  • Differentiate among various refractive options, including LASIK, and multifocal lenses, including enhancements after refractive procedures
  • Discuss infection control techniques in the ASC as well as ways to implement efficiencies to improve center specific benchmarks with outpatient surgery
