Program Location

The nurse/allied health program and events will be held at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa.

Target Audience

This program is specifically designed for ophthalmic nurses and allied health professionals.

2011 Nursing Objectives

After completing the nurse/allied health program, you should be able to:

  • Discuss the most current considerations in refractive and cataract surgery including femtosecond laser surgery, accommodating IOLS, and maximizing vision after cataract surgery.
  • Explain new technologies in retinal imaging and techniques in retinal surgery, discuss realistic expectations with retinal patients and provide guidance with retinal coding for 2011.
  • Discuss compliance as it relates to quality clinical care, compare and contrast the eye codes and equivalent evaluation and management codes, supervising ophthalmic personnel.
  • Differentiate between medical and surgical treatments of glaucoma, discuss fourier domain OCT in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, list the hallmarks of low tension glaucoma.
  • Discuss corneal cross-linking, compare and contrast placido and slit lamp corneal topography, Explain coding changes for 2011.
