This program is specifically designed for ophthalmic nurses and allied health professionals.
Learning Objectives
After completing the nurse/allied health program, you should be able to:
- Compliance: Discuss compliance and its impact on patient care; list changes to the OIG work plan for 2010; and plan for providing health care to a growing number of patients as the Baby Boomers reach seniority.
- Glaucoma: Identify genetic risk factors for glaucoma; list three new surgical procedures; and identify the nurse/technician role in bleb management.
- Retinal Disease: Differentiate between visual acuity testing in a low vision patient and one without retinal disease; discuss current treatment options for exudative age-related macular degeneration; and identify the role of diagnostic imaging on the retinal patient.
- Intraocular Lenses: Discuss methods of calculating post-refractive IOLs; identify pre-surgical topographic patterns; and list desirable attributes in the refractive IOL patient.
- Ocular Surface Disease: Discuss the management of the keratoconus patient; differentiate between scleritis and episcleritis; and describe strategies to identify and manage multi-drug resistant bacteria in ophthalmology.
